NEEDLE VS CANNULA TECHNIQUE

Although many dermal filler products are now packaged with both a needle and a cannula so that the practitioner has more choice how to inject the product, it is important to know about the disadvantages and benefits of needle use vs cannula use.

The most obvious difference between a needle and a cannula is that the tip of a needle is sharp while a cannula is blunt. One of the main problems that can occur when using a needle to administer dermal filler is that once the needle is inserted, there is a chance that it will pierce the blood vessels underneath the skin and result in bruising. Using a cannula can and will reduce the risk of bruising post treatment as the tip is blunt. The cannula will push past the blood vessels which will cause less damage and complication. https://drmarciahartt.ca/cannula-vs-needle/
